Status report: Comments fixed, Conventions, and Updates
5/23/2012 by Kevin
Hey guys. It's been a little bit and we have quite a bit of ground to cover, so let's get right to it….
Comments are fixed! Our plucky webtech was able to figure out what was causing the errors with comments and kicked it square in the behind, so commenting on comics and stuff is working again. Thanks to our web guru, Blake, for his work on that especially with so much going on with him right now.
We're guests at AnimeNext! Coming up in a little over two weeks, Sarah and I have been invited as guests to AnimeNext in Somerset, NJ. We'll have our usual set up but we'll also be giving workshops and stuff. More info can be found on our convention page here.
More conventions! ANext falls in the middle of a four weekend long convention gauntlet which will include:
Animazement in Raleigh, NC May 25-27
Philadelphia Comic Con in Philadelphia, PA May 31 - June 1st
AnimeNext as mentioned above
and Anime Mid-Atlantic in Chesapeake, VA June 15-17
This brings us to….
UPDATES!Bum, bum, bum! I'm sure you all noticed that with recent website problems and other factors, updates have been spotty at best. I wish I could tell you we were gonna be up and running again real soon, but the reality of the situation is that there's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff going on that we're trying to get sorted out and the aforementioned convention gauntlet makes that task a lot more difficult.
Here's basically what I can tell you guys. We're still working out a lot of bugs that have popped up on the site and fixing a lot of long term issues we've been having. As I mentioned in our last update, our webtech is taking care of a lot of personal stuff as well as doing some most excellent work for Team Fight, a charity group that's helping young adults in the fight against cancer. We're trying to work with each other's schedules and making progress, but it's taking time.
I've also been wrestling with issues regarding my health. I've been having sleep problems for most of my adult life, but my back injury and other concerns have worsened things to the point where it's severely affecting my health and my work. We're getting studies done and I'm on the path to treatment. I've been told that being able to sleep again will completely change my life. Believe me, I hope it's true. I feel terrible about letting you guys down (and I can't even BEGIN to apologize to you Trigger Star fans who we left hanging the middle of a story arc.) ;_;
Now, not everything is gloom and doom. The other reason why updates are being delayed in because Sarah, Blake, myself, and friends are working on some BIG plans and changes for the studio and the website. Details are still developing, but we'll keep you guys in the loop as we move forward.
So all that said, I can't give you guys a solid date on when we'll be able to get things up and running again. It definitely won't be during our May/June convention rush, but I'm hoping to get at least the comics back up before July. If my health improves, it could be sooner but I don't want to make promises we can't keep. It's gonna take a lot of work and I really appreciate you guys sticking by us even in this trying time.
So I guess that's pretty much it. As we get closer to knowing exactly what's going on with the site, we'll let you guys know on all channels. Again, it means the world to me that you all support our efforts, even when things get really hard for us. Please know that we're all working our buns off to make this thing work and we're sorry when life gets in the way. Best wishes to all of you and I hope to be in touch with you again soon!
