An Important Update
5/9/2011 by Sarah
Hello.
I'm very sorry, but there will be further delays with our comics. Kevin is currently unable to come to the computer.
You see, his back went out. He'd overdone it on some yard work, didn't give the injury the rest it needed, and then collapsed in a parking lot this weekend.
HE IS MUCH IMPROVED NOW, LOVELY PEOPLE!
Really, I wouldn't be posting a news post all calm and collected if this was something super-life-long-serious. He couldn't move for a time. He had a delightful ride in an ambulance. He's on enough painkillers to make C-SPAN bearable. And he's under strict orders to avoid a lot of movement.
The ER believes it is a muscular injury--not nerve damage or busted disks--they predict he'll be well-healed in 6 to 8 weeks. Right now, it's hard for him to sit up, stand, or walk without some help. With all the medications he's on to stay loose, he certainly can't drive. However, we will go to a non-emergency-room doctor tomorrow for a complete diagnostic and probably a referral to a specialty physician. I'll keep y'all posted on his progress and the doctor's timeline.
To those of you who were looking forward to his appearance at Anime Central, I'm very sorry. He physically cannot work that show. It happens in 2 weeks, and though he should be able to stand by then, he may not be able to bend down, move displays, drive a car, or stay standing for long stretches of time. We'll try again next year.
And Animazement... we'll have to keep you all posted. We'll see what the doctors say.
We both hope you'll be patient about the comics, though. His studio is on a different floor from his sickbed and we'll have to take it one day at a time. I want him around for a while, you see. Drawing. Smiling. Smacking himself with Wii-motes.
We dearly appreciate your patience with his convalescence, all your warm wishes, and your years of kind support.
--Sarah & Kevin (the drugged & sleeping).
